I stand corrected. Now editing initial misinformed post with additional relevant info:

The inspiration for Caution was explained in an interview by Bob Weir:

"We were driving around listening to the radio .... And the song Mystic Eyes by Them was on, and we were saying, 'Check this out! We can do this!' So we got to the club where we were playing and we warmed up on it. We lifted the riff from Mystic Eyes and extrapolated it into Caution, I think Pigpen just made up the words."

that is interesting! And then so the NAME for this newly developed tune is explained by Phil in his book. Stating that they were smoking a doobie in between cars on a train and jerry almost slipped and fell off (Caution, do not step on tracks). Correct?
